When Patricia visits the grave of her recently deceased husband, Richard, the last thing she expects to find is another grieving woman. Realising she is in the presence of her husband’s mistress, Vanessa, she is suddenly forced to face up to the double blow of his death and betrayal. Vanessa appears genuine in her offer to discuss the affair and help Patricia make sense of her husband’s behavior, but not surprisingly, Patricia wants nothing to do with her. Unable to confront Richard for answers however, the pain and frustration get the better of her and she sees no choice but to contact Vanessa, who in turn presents Patricia with some well meant but still painful ‘home truths’ about the affair. Patricia’s daughter, Rebecca, on compassionate leave from University, is on hand to comfort her, but she soon discovers her daughter has a secret of her own and this compounds her frustration and pain. Forced to come clean, Rebecca’s modern views on love and relationships, serve only to amplify the ‘home truths’ already delivered by Vanessa. Patricia is now left with no choice but to re-evaluate her traditional views of marriage and relationships and finally question her own contribution to the affair. A story of love, loss, betrayal and forgiveness, ‘Shared’ plots Patricia’s journey, as she struggles to come to terms with her husband’s infidelity and the part she unwittingly played. Will Richard’s betrayal shatter their marriage into a thousand irreparable pieces, or can Patricia find a way to forgive her beloved husband, allowing her to grieve his untimely death and move on?
